Objects Session Notes
- 4 hr 30m session (+ Sky Flats and Dark Frame library (-12 degC) - mild night (requiring imaging at CCD temperature of only -12 degC, compared to normal summer CCD operation of -15 degC) - main objectives was to acquire images of selected standard stars through B,V,R & I filters, together with ongoing monitoring of dwarf nova SS Cyg & nearby star astrometry - opportunity taken to acquire images of Maffei 2 through Infrared filter - More Notes

Maffei 2 is a galaxy lying in the plane of the
Milky Way and is largely obscured by dust.
Two sets of images of Maffei 2  were acquired (one set through Visual (V) and
on set through Infrared (I) filter). These showed that the galaxy was visible in infrared , whilst at the same time practically invisible
in visual band.
