Objects Session Notes
NGC 6550 - Spiral Galaxy WZ Sge - variable star Astrometric & Photometric Monitoring - SS Cyg (dwarf nova)
- U And (mira variables)
- BL Lac (blazar)
- RX And, CY Lyr, R CrB, RU Peg, DY Per, WZ Sge (variables)
- AM Her (polar variable)
- Evening session (2.6 hrs). Coldest session so far this season (5.5 degC).. Skies deteriorated during latter part of session with high thin cloud, accompanied by 2.5 deg warming. - Ambient Temperature 5.5 degC Min.
(11 --> 5.5 --> 8 degC)- CCD operation of -15 degC
(at 57% average cooling).- main objective of the session was to acquire images of key selected stars for ongoing photometric and astrometric analysis. -
| NGC 6550 (Pegasus) might also be known as NGC 6548 (appears to be two spiral galaxy objects at the same location in TheSky, both Mag +11.7) |

| WZ Sge (Sagitta) WZ Sge has been described as the King of Cataclysmics. Although outbursts are rare they are understood to be spectacular when they do occur, with rapid nova-like brightening and interestingly superhumps, eclipses and a long decay profile [ VSNet WZ Sge Page ] GCVS Catalog details :UGSU+E+ZZ (+7.0 to +15.53) Outbursts in 1978, 2001 |
