Asteroid 29 Amphitrite - 1999-12-06

Analysis made on 1999-12-31 of one of the photographs taken on 1999-12-06 (see Astrophotographs (including M45, M31, M33, M42, Jupiter, Saturn) showed the presence of the asteroid (or minor planet)  29 Amphitrite (am-fi-TRY-tee, Amphitrite in Greek Mythology ). This was the first asteroid that I have ever seen. Whilst I did not set out to see or photograph it, the analysis of the photograph was made with the aim of locating any asteroids present and finding 29 Amphitrite in the picture was as thrilling as if I had seen it through the eyepiece of my telescope.
